SUN-jun-ah SUH-thee-an [or see: handy Bollywood song for ref]

I am a 2019 graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop, an alumna of the Clarion Writers’ Workshop, and a 2017 Paul and Daisy Soros Fellow.

My work is published in Boulevard, Salt Hill, Joyland, and the Master’s Review. My story ‘New America’ was listed as a ‘Distinguished Story’ of 2018 in the 2019 Best American Short Stories anthology. I have also been first runner-up for the Boulevard Emerging Writers' Short Fiction Prize, finalist for the Narrative Story Contest, and finalist for the Master’s Review Story Contest, judged by Aimee Bender.

I’ve been a tech journalist in San Francisco and a foreign correspondent in Mumbai. My reporting from India was honored by the South Asian Journalists' Association. In 2019-2020, you can find me writing in Mumbai, with support from the Michener-Copernicus Society, and teaching prose at Victoria University-Wellington, in New Zealand.
